STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
The STEM module – a combination of academic work, laboratories, and outdoor activities – aims to strengthen the participants’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as their capacity for innovation, independence, and digital literacy.
The STEM modules stimulate the students in scientific issues, helping them understand the varied roles science plays in our society, while they develop knowledge and skills. Students will be involved in STEM education topics and will work both in groups and individually; carry out data analysis; interpret the results; cover robotics and engineering topics; learn about augmented reality; design three-dimensional objects using 3D printers and create their products at the MakerSpace.
Students will be given the chance to embrace a scientific approach in every aspect of daily life. They will get involved with simplified lab protocols and experiments, and familiarize with science lab methodology. In particular, through the science workshops, students will develop skills; learn more about technology evolution and the latest achievements in this field.
Moreover, they will gain useful insights about new career paths as far as science is concerned. Students will visit laboratories, institutes, museums, and organizations involved in STEM activities, in order to carry out research projects that require group-work and creativity. Thus, they will be challenged to undertake responsibilities that help them acquire knowledge and abilities in all branches of science.
Finally, students will participate in activities that enhance their communication skills, help them take thoughtful risks, engage in experimental learning, and realize how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics could be applied with optimized results in every aspect of life.
